andra vltavín
andra vltavín lives in a small co-housing community in SW Portland, teaches sociocracy for the Design School for Regenerating Earth, and is project manager for a 10-acre forest restoration project. They co-founded First Matter Press, a nonprofit supporting LGBTQ+ and BIPOC authors to publish their first books, and served on their board for three years. andra also co-founded Ethical Yarn Community co-op and currently serves on the board. Professionally, they have experience in creative reuse, permaculture, community organizing, writing, and local politics.
They first encountered sociocracy at Lost Valley Education Center in 2024 and fell in love with the concept of consent and collaborative governance, having seen many well-meaning community organizations struggle with consensus and anarchic modes. They continue to support their local mutual aid communities in providing food, clothing, and company to the unhoused. andra prides themself in bringing embodiment, movement, joy, roleplay, and meditation into their training and consulting practice. While they mostly support clients remotely, they also provide on-site workshops, trainings, and implementation support to local groups.
